Porcelain Teapot

How To Choose The Best Porcelain Teapot

Tea lovers everywhere rejoice come teatime, whenever that may be. An afternoon pick-me-up, a morning ritual, or an after-dinner beverage. And if you prefer porcelain teapots, the experience is even more delightful. So here’s how to choose, use, and clean your favorite teapot.

How to use a porcelain teapot

First up, boil some water in a tea kettle on the stove. Fresh spring water, glacier-fed water, or low mineral water is best if you can.

When the water reaches a boil, remove it from the stove. Place your tea leaves inside your porcelain teapot. Pour the hot water inside carefully over the tea leaves.

Depending on the teapot, you may need an infuser, a strainer, or a tea bag to keep the leaves in place.

Let your tea steep inside the teapot for a few minutes. You can find the ideal steep time on your tea container.

Then, pour yourself a cup of tea from your teapot, sit back, and enjoy its taste and aromas.

How to clean your porcelain teapot

Always clean your teapot after use with a soft cloth, soap, and water. This keeps your teapot from absorbing tastes and stains.

If your porcelain teapot is already stained, gently clean it with some baking soda and warm water. This should remove the stains but you may have to soak the teapot overnight in the baking soda solution.

Are porcelain teapots safe?

If you take care of your porcelain teapot and use it as directed, it should be safe to use. But over time and without proper care, porcelain can crack. Give your teapot a once-over before use to make sure it’s intact.
